The product we bring you is the result of her time, skill and creativity, invested in producing a one-of-a-kind piece.

Mandakini Mahila Mandal Bunkar Samiti Among our partner projects are women weaver cooperatives in the Himalayan states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh in India. Our first partner project is situated in the high altitude Kedar Valley in the Himalayan district of Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The valley was devastated by flash floods in the summer of 2013, and entire villages were swept away in the waters that breached the banks of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers due to heavy rainfall. Four years on, the region is yet to recover from the massive loss of life, property, crops and infrastructure, and there has been a steady migration of the workforce to urban areas. In the tiny village of Deoli-Bhanigram - once tagged the “Village of Widows” in the tragic aftermath of the floods - women seek to revive their traditional weaving skills so they can create a self-reliant and sustainable source of income. Forming a weavers’ collective, they now produce exquisite hand-woven shawls, stoles and scarves in wool and silk which The Durga Project has showcased in an exclusive inaugural collection. |

Suchi's Soaps Suchita Ullal is a former communications professional whose creative and entrepreneurial instincts manifest in fragrant hand-crafted soaps, deodorants and lip balms, made entirely from natural ingredients. Suchi's Soaps are made from honey, almonds, coconut, cucumber, rose petals and aloe vera among other ingredients, all of which are considered excellent skin emollients in the Indian Ayurvedic tradition. No chemicals are used in the preparation of these products, which makes them the perfect non-allergenic solution for every type of skin. |
